Whole-house water filtration

The right filter for your water problem

Borewell, tanker and municipal water each bring different problems: dirt and silt, cloudiness, iron stains, or the smell and taste of chlorine. No single filter fixes all of them. Each filter type targets a specific problem, and they're often combined into a multi-stage system on the main line.

Filtration protects your plumbing, fixtures and appliances, and it's the pre-treatment that keeps softeners and RO purifiers working well.

Filter types

Sediment, sand, iron & carbon filters

What each filter does, and when you need it.

Himajal Sediment Filter
For sand, silt & rust particles

Sediment Filter

The first line of defence

A sediment filter physically traps solid particles such as sand, silt, dirt and rust flakes that come in with borewell, tanker or municipal water.

Cartridges are rated in microns. A lower micron rating catches finer particles. It's usually the first stage, so the filters, purifiers and appliances after it stay clean.

Key benefits

  • Removes visible dirt, sand and rust particles
  • Protects taps, valves, pumps and appliances from abrasion and clogging
  • Extends the life of downstream carbon, RO and UV stages
  • Simple cartridge replacement when it gets dirty

Himajal Sand Filter
For suspended particles

Sand Filter

Remove suspended impurities

Sand filtration is used as a primary filtration stage to reduce suspended particles and turbidity before subsequent treatment stages.

Key benefits

  • Helps remove suspended particles
  • Protects downstream treatment equipment
  • Improves water clarity
  • Supports efficient operation of subsequent filters

Himajal Iron Filter
For iron-rich water

Iron Filter

Clearer water. Cleaner fixtures. Better protection.

Excess iron in water can create visible staining, metallic taste and deposits on plumbing fixtures.

Himajal Iron Filter solutions are designed to address iron-related water problems and protect downstream plumbing and fixtures.

Key benefits

  • Reduces iron-related staining: helps control iron-related colour and deposits
  • Protects fixtures: helps prevent build-up around taps, shower heads and fittings
  • Supports plumbing protection: helps reduce iron deposits in connected water systems
  • Improves water appearance: cleaner-looking water when iron is the primary issue

Common signs of iron in water

  • Discoloured water
  • Stains on clothes & fabrics
  • Corrosion & higher maintenance
  • Higher repair & replacement costs

Himajal Carbon Filter
For taste & odour

Carbon Filter

Better taste, odour & water quality

Activated carbon filtration is used to reduce various unwanted substances such as chlorine and organic compounds, depending on the carbon media and water characteristics.

Key benefits

  • Reduces chlorine
  • Helps reduce unpleasant odour
  • Helps improve taste
  • Reduces certain organic contaminants
  • Acts as a polishing stage in water treatment

Working together

How a multi-stage system is arranged

Coarse filters come first, so the finer stages after them don't clog. A typical main-line setup looks like this, though only the stages your water test calls for are installed.

  1. 1

    Sediment filter

    Traps sand, silt & rust

  2. 2

    Sand filter

    Reduces turbidity

  3. 3

    Iron filter

    Removes iron & staining

  4. 4

    Carbon filter

    Removes chlorine, taste & odour

After filtration, a water softener or water conditioner handles hardness, and an RO or UV purifier at the kitchen tap makes water safe to drink.
