Safe drinking water at home
Choosing the right water purifier
Water that looks clear can still carry dissolved salts, heavy metals, bacteria or chlorine. The right purifier depends on where your water comes from and how much dissolved solids (TDS) it has, not on how it looks.
- Borewell / tanker waterHigh TDS, hardness, possible heavy metalsRO + UV (+ UF)
- Municipal / corporationLow TDS, but risk of bacteria and chlorine tasteUV + UF, or RO if TDS is high
- Want mineral-rich waterAny source, with minerals added back after RORO + Alkaline / Copper
This is a general guide. We test your water's TDS before recommending a purifier.
Purifier types
A purifier for every home
RO Water Purifiers
For high-TDS borewell and tanker water. Reduces dissolved salts and heavy metals, with UV/UF for microbes.
View rangeUV Water Purifiers
For low-TDS municipal water. UV light treats bacteria and viruses without wasting any water.
View rangeAlkaline Water Purifiers
RO purification plus alkaline and mineral stages that add back minerals and raise the pH.
View rangeUndersink Water Purifiers
Fits in the cabinet under the kitchen sink and dispenses through a separate tap, keeping the counter clear.
View rangeHot & Normal Water Purifiers
Purified water at room temperature plus hot water from the same unit, ready for tea, coffee and cooking.
View rangePurifiers with Ozonator
A built-in ozonator outlet for rinsing fruits and vegetables, alongside regular purified drinking water.

Inside the purifier
The filters that clean your water
Each stage has one job. The first stages remove impurities, and on alkaline and mineral models the later stages add minerals back. The exact stages depend on the model.
1Pre-Filter
InletFitted on the inlet line, it catches coarse dirt and sand before the water even enters the purifier.
2Sediment Filter
ParticlesTraps sand, dust, rust and other visible particles, protecting the finer stages after it.
3Carbon Filter
AdsorptionActivated carbon reduces chlorine, odours and certain organic contaminants, and protects the RO membrane.
4RO Membrane
ROA semi-permeable membrane that reduces dissolved salts, heavy metals and other dissolved impurities.
5Alkaline Cartridge
MineralAdds calcium and magnesium minerals back after RO and raises the pH of the water.
6Copper Stage
MineralAdds trace copper ions to the purified water.
7Zinc Stage
MineralAdds trace zinc to the purified water.
8UV Purification
UV-CUltraviolet light treats the water as a final disinfection step, without adding any chemicals.

Compare technologies
RO vs UV vs UF
Most good purifiers combine these technologies, because each one covers what the others miss.
| What it does | RO | UV | UF |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reduces dissolved salts (TDS) & heavy metals | |||
| Treats bacteria & viruses | |||
| Removes fine particles & cysts | |||
| Works without electricity | |||
| No reject (waste) water | |||
| Suitable for high-TDS borewell water |
UF membranes block bacteria and cysts but not viruses.
Upkeep
Keep your purifier performing
- Service every 6 monthsSediment and carbon filters usually need changing every 6–12 months, depending on your water and usage.
- RO membrane & UV lampThe membrane and UV lamp last longer, but are checked at every service and replaced when performance drops.
- Genuine filters onlyOriginal Himajal cartridges keep the purifier performing as designed and protect the warranty.
An annual maintenance contract covers scheduled services and filter changes, so you never have to remember them.
