Hard Water Problems
Hard water contains high concentrations of calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) ions. It causes scale buildup in pipes and appliances, reduces soap lathering, leaves white deposits on fixtures, and can cause dry skin and hair problems. Water with hardness above 200 mg/L (as CaCO₃) is considered hard.
What is TDS?
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) measures the total concentration of dissolved substances in water — including minerals, salts, metals, and other ions. WHO guidelines recommend TDS below 300 ppm for good taste. Above 1000 ppm, water is generally unpalatable. A good RO purifier brings TDS to 18–80 ppm.
RO Myths vs Facts
MYTH: 'RO removes all minerals.' FACT: TDS Controller retains essential minerals. MYTH: 'RO water is acidic.' FACT: Himajal's alkaline filter raises pH to 8.5+. MYTH: 'RO wastes too much water.' FACT: Zero-waste models recirculate rejected water. MYTH: 'Boiling is enough.' FACT: Boiling only kills bacteria, not dissolved chemicals, TDS, heavy metals, or fluoride.
Alkaline Water Benefits
Alkaline water (pH 8–9.5) may neutralize excess acid in the body, support bone health, improve hydration at the cellular level (smaller molecular clusters), provide antioxidant properties (negative ORP), and aid in digestive wellness. Himajal's Galaxy series delivers pH 8.5–9.5 with ORP of -100 to -200 mV.
Bacteria & Contamination
Municipal water can contain E. coli, coliform bacteria, chlorine by-products (THMs), heavy metals (lead, arsenic), pesticides, fluoride, and microplastics. Even borewell water may have excess fluoride, nitrates, and arsenic in Telangana and AP regions. UV purification destroys 99.99% of bacteria and viruses.
Water Saving Tips
Use zero-wastage RO purifiers. Reuse RO-rejected water for mopping, gardening, and flushing. Fix leaking taps immediately (a dripping tap wastes 15 liters/day). Use bucket instead of running tap for washing. Collect and reuse cooking water. Install flow restrictors on taps.
