What is Alkaline Water?

The “Alkaline” in Alkaline Water refers to the pH level. The pH level is the number that measures if the water is acidic or alkaline from the scale of 0 to 14. For instance, water with a pH of 1 would be very acidic and 14 would be very alkaline. The diagram below shows you in more detail about the pH levels of different food items.

Normal drinking ware has a neutral pH of 7, and Alkaline Water typically has a pH between 8-10 and is commonly also known as ionized water.

An average human being is prone to consume food products that are acidic in nature. As you can see from the diagram above, you can determine what category of foods you consume. To counter this, we need to improve the quality of water, and the best way is to consume Alkaline water which has a higher pH level than plain water. Reverse Osmosis (RO) is the process of removing large majority of contaminants from water by pushing the water under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane. However, it doesn’t mean that it necessarily creates the healthiest water. The process of RO reduces the total dissolved solids but this means that it also strips mineral content out of the water, along with all of the other contaminants. Demineralized water is not recommended for consistent human consumption because it can lead to dilution and deficiencies.
